Newcastle Hospitality courses all wrapped up!

At Passmores’ we are dedicated to having the finest Newcastle Hospitality Courses.
So what’s more perfect for our students in the hospitality course – First Aid.

Just imagine that you are on the front desk of a major hotel chain. Suddenly, a guest bursts into the lobby yelling for medical help; what do you do?
At Passmores’ Business College we want our hospitality students to be as well equipped as possible to enable them to meet guests’ every need. As a result, all of our hospitality students complete a first aid course. We hope that they never have to use these skills but, are confident that our hospitality students would rise to the occasion if necessary.
This year, amidst much laughter, the 2010 hospitality students of Passmores’ Business College were instructed on how to apply bandages. As you can see from the photo some of them got a little carried away!!
In a more subdued manner the students also learnt how to resuscitate, deal with burns, poisoning and seizures.
As usual, a big thank you goes to the very helpful instructor from Business Wise First Aid Training, Mr Greg Blume. His patience and obvious passion for his work made it an enjoyable learning experience for all of our Business College students.

Unique Business Courses Newcastle

Passmores’ Business College focuses upon providing Newcastle Courses which combine theory with practice. As part of this aim, all of our business college students have the privilege of participating in the subject, Event Management. We say privilege, because the students actually get to run an event, an event specifically designed to raise money for various charities. Whilst the subject is a lot of hard work our business college students really enjoy the ‘hands on’ aspect of the course.
The students have to manage their own finances, marketing plan and event details. Over the next few weeks our students will get to see the results of all their hard work and have the satisfaction of presenting a cheque to their chosen charity. As one of the business college marketing students commented, “It’s the first time I’ve got to run anything like this myself, let alone do marketing. I’m really enjoying all the practical experience I’m getting”. So great to hear!

Newcastle Hospitality Course Students visit the YHA!

Earlier this year our Passmores’ Business College Hospitality students enjoyed looking around and learning all about the prestigious Crowne Plaza Newcastle.
As the hotel industry is quite prominent in Hospitality, our business college knows how important having this inside knowledge is.
The students were given a very different perspective on accommodation and training, when they toured the YHA, even commenting “how big the rooms were!”.
Passmores’ hospitality course provides excellent Newcastle training, that covers international tourism, so it was very beneficial for the students to be able to see what youth hostel accommodation looks like first hand. They also had their general knowledge expanded as they were given a history lesson on how the youth hostel came about and how it operates world wide.
We hope it inspired our students to put on their hiking boots, grab a backpack and check out some other YHA around this wonderful world of ours!

Students Gain Experience Through Newcastle Courses at Passmores’ Business College

Passmores' Business College Provides Newcastle Courses With A Difference

Student's Thrive at Passmores' College

There are lots of   Newcastle courses but, at Passmores’, we enjoy training Newcastle students through a combination of experiences.

Term two at Passmores’ has a varied program, to make studies interesting, which includes assignments, team work, excursions, trips to Sydney and Melbourne, deportment tips and charity fundraising events organised solely by our students.

A highlight for the students is their overnight stays in Melbourne and Sydney.  Our legal students head to Sydney where they visit the Supreme Court, get some valuable insights from the Real Estate Institute and enjoy an evening meal on a Sydney Harbour cruise.  Flying further south, our hospitality and marketing students head for Melbourne.  Whilst in Melbourne, our hospitality students get to enjoy something quite different from other Newcastle hospitality courses, an intensive day with the Intercontinental Human Resource team acquiring inside tips on how to pursue a career in hospitality.  Our marketing students likewise, have the opportunity to soak up some great advice from the largest marketing agency in Melbourne.

As always, there’s lots happening at Passmores’ Business College and we’re all looking forward to another term of fun, friendship and, of course, learning!

Business Students Prepare For Workforce At Passmores’ Business College

Business Students Prepare For Workforce

Term one has flown by and now Passmores’ Business College students are busy settling into term two.

Passmores’ takes pride in offering Newcastle courses that prepare students for the realities of the workforce.  A big component of succeeding in the business sector involves time management and team work.  As a result, term one was a big learning curve for our students, as they learnt to grapple with these issues through a steady flow of assignments, tests, team work and presentations.  The students were glad to take a well earned break at the end of term one!

The atmosphere at Passmores’ Business College, as term two swings into action, is one of positive energy as the students gear up for another busy term.  There is a happy buzz, as students realise that they can get through it and are already equipped with some well learnt lessons from term one.

All the best guys, we know you can do it!

Business College students inspired by Motivational Seminar – Maria Atkinson

Maria Atkinson - Lend LeaseIt’s not every day that students have the opportunity to fire questions at the Global Head of a multi-national corporation. But, the students from Passmores’ Business College were given the chance to do just that. Maria Atkinson, Global Head of Sustainability at Lend Lease, shared with students practical career advice as she described how her career progressed from a position in marketing to the position she has today.

Her position today takes her to thirty five different countries around the world as she steers Lend Lease’s work towards realising its aspiration to be a leading sustainable organisation. Among her list of achievements, Maria was a Co-founder of the Green Building Council of Australia where she was responsible for overseeing the building of ‘green’ accommodation for the 2000 Olympics.

In September 2007 former US President Bill Clinton invited Maria to join a high-profile panel to discuss ways to accelerate green buildings, as part of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York . Working in this high profile international arena has made Maria aware of the need to anticipate and empathize when it comes to interacting with a diverse range of clients. She was able to share the importance of this with the students at the seminar, as well as the need for good presentation, networking, planning and lifelong learning.

Her parting words of wisdom to students – “Acknowledge the past, plan for the future but most importantly engage in the present.”

Passmores’ College of Business commenced another year on Monday 2nd February with a room full of excited and curious students.

The 2010 year started with some practical advice on how to organise study time and then the students were off to their first set of classes. By the end of the day they were keen to get home and start planning their weekly schedule!

As the week progressed it was great to see the students settling in so quickly to their new routines and already forming some great friendships.

The staffs at Passmores are expecting to have a great year and look forward to getting to know the students individually.
