Passmores’ Correspondence Courses
Passmores’ Business College places an emphasis on producing high calibre graduates. We take pride in graduating students who have business experience, are well groomed and are up to date in their knowledge of the business sector.
As a result, we have developed Correspondence Courses which incorporate personal attention and practical experience.
Passmores’ Business College realizes that it is not possible for all students to take a year out to further their studies, hence the Correspondence Courses in addition to our full-time courses.
So, if you’re interested in a career in Human Resource Management, Events Management, Real Estate, Legal, Marketing, Media or Hospitality, why not contact us so that we can help you make a start!

First Day Jitters!
Passmores’ College of Business commenced another year on Monday 2nd February with a room full of excited and curious students.
The 2010 year started with some practical advice on how to organise study time and then the students were off to their first set of classes. By the end of the day they were keen to get home and start planning their weekly schedule!
As the week progressed it was great to see the students settling in so quickly to their new routines and already forming some great friendships.
The staffs at Passmores’ are expecting to have a great year and look forward to getting to know the students individually.
And the Award goes to . . .

Passmores’ Business College Graduation Ball 2009
Having never attended a Business College Ball before, I was a little uncertain as to what to expect. How would the evening unfold, what would people be wearing, would it be long and tedious or would the evening fly by?
It turned out to be the latter! The evening started with a flurry of students turning up in the most amazing gowns. Our female students looked like they had just stepped off the catwalk and the guys looked great in their suits and ties.
It was also lovely to meet the families of our students and to put names to faces.
We then sat down for a lovely three course meal and enjoyed the beautiful decorations put together by our staff and students.
The formal part of the evening commenced shortly after our meal and was, for me, the highlight of the evening. We heard several speeches from staff and distinguished guests, all of which were inspiring in different ways, and then had the pleasure of seeing our students receive their diplomas and be duly rewarded for all the hard work they had put in during the year.
It was also an opportunity to acknowledge students who had excelled in different areas during their year at Passmores’ Business College.
As a member of staff I found the evening particularly encouraging as I reflected on how much these young men and women had grown during the year in terms of their personal development and poise. The 2009 Business College graduates would be an asset to any employee!
Newcastle Hospitality Courses
As we say goodbye to our 2009 Business College students, we start looking forward to meeting next year’s intake.
Our Newcastle Hospitality Course is always popular! It is an interesting and varied course which looks at training Newcastle students in both theoretical and practical elements of Hospitality. Students enjoy learning about Front Office Operations, Human Resource Management, Computer Studies and International Tourism Theory. The students also greatly benefit from practical subjects like Event Management where they, along with the other majors of Marketing Media and Legal/Real Estate, actually organize a fundraising event and have the satisfaction of presenting a cheque to their chosen charity. Always a highlight of the year!
The Newcastle Hospitality Course also includes excursions where students get to see how the large hotels work behind the scenes and includes the option to travel overseas and have an international experience.
So, if you’ve ever wondered about a career in hospitality, now’s the time to act. We would love you to be one of our 2010 Business College students.
Passmores’ Business College Graduation Ball
Passmores’ student and staff are all eagerly looking forward to the annual Graduation Ball to be held on Thursday 3 December. It is an exciting evening as students receive their diplomas. Special awards are also given out in recognition of students who’ve achieved highly in different areas of their Hospitality, Legal/Real Estate and Marketing courses. It is a great opportunity to celebrate with family and friends; a time to reflect on how much they’ve achieved in just one year.
The staff members particularly enjoy hearing how the student’s job seeking is going. Once again so many of our students have secured employment before they’ve even graduated!
This year is also a first, in that we are also able to celebrate with students who’ve participated in our correspondence courses. It will be a way to formally recognize all the hard work our correspondence course students have put in throughout the year.
Well done to all our students, both those who’ve completed Newcastle courses and those who’ve completed correspondence courses, another great year!
The Benefits of Work Experience
When I first started at Passmores’ Business College I had no idea where I was planning to go in the future and, as the year progressed, I was surprised to find that I was quite a creative person.
This is when I realised that I loved advertising and was thinking that I would pursue advertising as a career. However, after doing my work experience at NBN, I found that I loved it so much that I am now keen to pursue television journalism.
I would recommend doing work experience to anyone interested in being a journalist as it is such an eye opener as to what the industry is like. I’m thankful to Passmores’ Business College for the opportunity they created to see firsthand what it was like to be employed in television journalism
Business College Work Experience Underway
Students from Passmores’ Business College are required to take work experience as part of their business course.
In recent years the college extended work experience from 2 weeks to 6 weeks as they found in doing so many of their students find full-time work before they even complete their Newcastle courses. This year has been no exception! Students have not yet completed their work experience and are already securing employment.
To date students have gained employment at First National Real Estate, Masons Lawyers, Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley and BSI Constructions, just to name a few.
With nearly a 100% employment rate every year Passmores’ really is training Newcastle students for effective job placement!
