Correspondence Course Success

Craig goes the Distance!

Congratulations Craig on graduating with a Distinction Diploma in the Event Management course. He is the very first student to enrol in the new Distance Learning Program correspondence course which opened for enrolments in 2008.

Even though the college has trained thousands of students over the years, Craig is our first to graduate through correpondence studies. Craig’s results were outstanding and he also wowed staff and charity groups when he solely raised over $ 2996.10 for ‘First Chance’, as part of his Event Management course assignment.

“I really enjoyed putting what I learned into practice” as well as “helping the charities to raise funds”.  Craig is feeling super confident and ready to pursue the career in Events.

Well done on great results!

Event Management students start fundraising

handsAll Passmores’ Business College students have commenced their fundraising exercises for their Event Management courses. The students are busily selling mars and Cadbury chocolates by the bucket load to raise funds for 11 different Hunter based charities.

The fundraising events give our Business College students some fantastic event management experience while also providing much needed funds for the different Hunter based charities.

The event management students have also started planning a number of events that we are looking forward to in Term 2.

Hospitality courses students’ tour of local Newcastle hotel

hotel-management_150The Passmores’ Business College Hospitality and Tourism Hotel Management students recently enjoyed a tour of the Crowne Plaza Newcastle complex. The hospitality students were able to see how the hotel operates and spent time with the Human Resources staff.

“Being able to provide these types of tours for the hospitality and tourism students is a fantastic way for them to see the industry at work first hand” said Cristen Cable, Public Relations & Administration Manager for the Business College.

A fun and informative day was had by all.

The hospitality and marketing students are now eagerly awaiting confirmation of their Melbourne educational excursion as are our Real Estate and Legal Students looking forward to their Sydney excursion late June or early July.

Passmores’ Fundraising Total Reaches over $340,000

As part of our students Event Management course they are required to organise fundraising events for Hunter based charities. We are pleased to announce that the students raised a total of $28,000 for 12 Hunter based charities.

Our Event Management course provides students with valuable experience that they can apply to real life situations. Completing a fundraising task for local charities provides students with great hands on experience in the Event Management and fundraising industry and also allows us to raise much needed funds for very worthwhile charities.

Two students completing their studies via our Correspondence Course also recently undertook their fundraising event, raising a combined total of $6,170 for the Hunter Ronald McDonald House and First Chance charities. This now brings the Passmores’ fundraising total over time to a fantastic grand total of $344,059.31.
