Newcastle Hospitality Courses
As we say goodbye to our 2009 Business College students, we start looking forward to meeting next year’s intake.
Our Newcastle Hospitality Course is always popular! It is an interesting and varied course which looks at training Newcastle students in both theoretical and practical elements of Hospitality. Students enjoy learning about Front Office Operations, Human Resource Management, Computer Studies and International Tourism Theory. The students also greatly benefit from practical subjects like Event Management where they, along with the other majors of Marketing Media and Legal/Real Estate, actually organize a fundraising event and have the satisfaction of presenting a cheque to their chosen charity. Always a highlight of the year!
The Newcastle Hospitality Course also includes excursions where students get to see how the large hotels work behind the scenes and includes the option to travel overseas and have an international experience.
So, if you’ve ever wondered about a career in hospitality, now’s the time to act. We would love you to be one of our 2010 Business College students.

Correspondence Course Success
Craig goes the Distance!
Congratulations Craig on graduating with a Distinction Diploma in the Event Management course. He is the very first student to enrol in the new Distance Learning Program correspondence course which opened for enrolments in 2008.
Even though the college has trained thousands of students over the years, Craig is our first to graduate through correpondence studies. Craig’s results were outstanding and he also wowed staff and charity groups when he solely raised over $ 2996.10 for ‘First Chance’, as part of his Event Management course assignment.
“I really enjoyed putting what I learned into practice” as well as “helping the charities to raise funds”. Craig is feeling super confident and ready to pursue the career in Events.
Well done on great results!
Event Management – Major events in full swing
Event Management students are in the midst of hosting their major events for the year. The events range from a night at the movies to candlelight dinners in the vineyards, to trivia nights and lawn bowls.
All events are organised and run exclusively by the students and aim to raise money for local charities. As well, this programme provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable skills in preparing and hosting a major event and is credited to their course results.
Newcastle Courses – Term One Awards Ceremony
All students participated in an Award Ceremony to receive academic reports and to award students who have attained outstanding results for Term One.
Mrs Passmore, Academic Director, congratulated the whole student body on their results and stated that the college was performing at a healthy credit level in all subjects. Mrs Burgess, Academic Manager, also thanked all teachers for their dedication and hard work.
