Excursions inspire Passmores’ Management Course Students
Passmores’ College Newcastle Management Course students are well into their year and have already had the opportuniy to participate in a number of course-related excursions.
In week two of our media/marketing students’ course, they had the chance to view Oscar winning movie The Kings Speech in the luxury of the newly constructed Reading Cinemas Gold Lounge at Charlestown Square. Our Newcastle Management Course students reclined in the leather chairs and had food served to them by employees as they took in, and evaluated, the sights and sounds of the movie and their surroundings. Once back at College, The Kings Speech excursion was the basis for a discussion in both the Media Theory and Marketing subjects.
The following week, Passmores’ Newcastle Management Course students had another excursion – this time to local television station NBN. Students received a tour of the station, seeing behind the scenes of the different areas of NBN, from the archives to editing. Students had the fantastic opportunity to view a live news update being broadcasted and had the chance to meet and talk to NBN news broadcaster Paul Lobb about his career.
Such excursions help to ‘practically’ supplement the work Passmores’ students are undertaking in the extensive subject range for their major, which includes: media theory, journalism, advertising and marketing. Later this year, the students in the media/marketing major will also be visiting various media outlets in Newcastle, such as NXFM Radio Station, Peach Advertising and the Newcastle Herald. In the past, Passmores’ students have been inspired by these excursions and have gone on to do work placement with these organisations at the culmination of the course. Many of these organisations have even offered our ‘job ready’ Newcastle Management Course graduates permanent positions.

Interested in a Management Course? Find out what it entails…
The development of an effective Management Course requires a lot of thought, partly because a good manager needs to be skilled in so many areas. A list of managerial skills would include:
- Integrity – someone who says what they think and does what they say they’ll do.
- People skills
- Analytical, administrative and organisational abilities
- Team leader
- Communication – it’s crucial for a manager to be able to aid the flow of communication and make it clear and effective
- Time management
- IT skills
At Passmores’ we’ve taken the time to construct a Management Course in Newcastle which incorporates tasks and information specifically designed to develop students in the skills listed above.
Newcastle’s Office Administration Course – Become What Employers Are Looking For!
It is often said that it is hard to find good office staff. Why? Because office work isn’t as easy as people like to think; it takes a certain personality type to be able to complete the work well. Which is why at Passmores’, we offer a well rounded Office Administration Course, specifically designed to equip our graduates to succeed in the work force.
The Passmores’ Office Administration Course, based in Newcastle, combines Office Management, Computer Studies, Keyboard Skills, Human Resource Management, Career Management, Public Relations and Event Management.
These subjects aim to develop professionalism in our office administrators, as people will often look to them for guidance and assistance and as the ‘face of the organisation’. It’s best to gain the respect of others by being professional in every way: the way you talk and express yourself, the way you treat people and the way you dress to come to the office.
Through plenty of teamwork the students also develop the ability to be patient. An Office Administrator needs to have patience, as there will be times when you must overcome obstacles and remain calm in situations that will frustrate you.
Over the years we’ve heard so many employers say the same thing. They want staff who are friendly and outgoing, who have an eye for detail, who have a great phone manner and who are keen to get the job done well. We’ve responded by developing a diploma that focuses on developing all of these areas.
Passmores’ Newcastle Office Administration Course can be intense and demanding at times, but the effort required will be rewarded through great job placements at the completion of the diploma. Students will be exposed to excellent career prospects because they will deliver what Passmores’ promises.

Thinking About A Real Estate Course in Newcastle – Is Now a Good Time?
Is now a good time to pursue a career in Real Estate? This is an important question for anyone wanting to enter the industry. Firstly, the most important factor to assess is whether or not you really want to follow a career in Real Estate.
For students wanting to enrol in Passmores’ Real Estate Course, Newcastle we would pose the following type of questions in a career choice interview:
- Do you enjoy working with others?
- Do you like to set your own schedule?
- Do you want a career with high income potential?
- Do you like to interact with a lot of different people?
If potential candidates could answer yes to these questions then a real estate career might be an ideal fit for them.

Correspondence Course Success
Craig goes the Distance!
Congratulations Craig on graduating with a Distinction Diploma in the Event Management course. He is the very first student to enrol in the new Distance Learning Program correspondence course which opened for enrolments in 2008.
Even though the college has trained thousands of students over the years, Craig is our first to graduate through correpondence studies. Craig’s results were outstanding and he also wowed staff and charity groups when he solely raised over $ 2996.10 for ‘First Chance’, as part of his Event Management course assignment.
“I really enjoyed putting what I learned into practice” as well as “helping the charities to raise funds”. Craig is feeling super confident and ready to pursue the career in Events.
Well done on great results!
